YAACK Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts

Sept. 7 Bible Study
We will be collecting diapers at our Wednesday night bible study for the hurricane victims. Joan Root, the diocesan director of youth ministry has made the following appeal:

"I know you are all aware of the 2nd collection in the parishes this weekend and next for Katrina relief efforts which is great and most needed, but I have just been made aware of another material need if any of you feel called to respond. I have been in contact with Darla Hickman who is the the National start up coordinator for Life Teen who lives in Houston and she asked me to send her diapers. She is working with the evacuees at the Astrodome and said that they are desparate for diapers, especially the toddler size ones. While monetary donations are great, the diapers are sold out everywhere right now due to the great need."

If you can help out, please bring any packages of diapers you can donate to bible study on Wednesday night and YAACK will make sure they are delivered to Joan.

Mattingly has also offered to go purchase diapers from SAM's for anyone who cannot make it out and would like to make a cash contribution on Wed night.

Sept. 14 - Catholic Trivia Night/In House Social
We are turning our regularly scheduled Catholic Trivia Night next week into an In House Social to benefit the Katrina relief effort. We will play Catholic Trivia as usual. However, in lieu of going out to dinner afterwards, YAACK will provide drinks, snacks, desserts, etc. and collect donations for the recovery. All proceeds will be sent to Catholic Charities.
